Privacy

Privacy policy.

This policy explains how Plinth collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use our website, reader applications, and related services.

What this covers

This policy applies to Plinth, operated by Athenium, including the website at myplinth.app, the Plinth reader applications, and related support and account services.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, and (if you link one) a connected wallet address for ownership verification. Your identity is managed by Athenium, so this information is also governed by the Athenium Privacy Policy.
  • Purchase records — which books you've bought, when, and the publisher you bought from. Payment details (card numbers and similar) are handled by our payment processor and are never stored on Plinth's servers.
  • Reading metadata — limited information about which books are in your library, reading progress, and basic usage signals from the reader application. Notes and highlights you create remain associated with your account and can be exported by you.
  • Technical information — IP address, browser type, device type, and similar logs we keep for security and to keep the service running.
  • Support correspondence — information you include when you contact us for help, refunds, account recovery, or privacy requests.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide the service: to show you your library, to complete purchases, to issue refunds, to detect fraud, to improve the product, and to communicate with you about things you've bought. We don't sell your data.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep access limited to the people and providers who need it to operate Plinth.

Who we share information with

  • Payment processors (Stripe) to complete purchases.
  • Athenium for identity, ownership verification, and reader access.
  • Publishers and rights holders where needed to fulfil purchases, verify licences, process support matters, or investigate fraud.
  • Service providers we use to operate Plinth (hosting, analytics, customer support). These providers are bound by contract to handle your data with the same care.
  • Law enforcement when required by law, and only to the extent required.

International handling

Some of our service providers may process information outside your home jurisdiction. When that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is handled with appropriate protections.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your account information. You can export your library and annotations. You can withdraw consent for anything you've previously agreed to. Email privacy@myplinth.app for any of the above.

Cookies and analytics

Plinth uses a small number of essential cookies (sign-in session, basic preferences). We don't use third-party advertising cookies. We may use first-party analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to legal requirements to keep records (e.g. tax records).

Children

Plinth is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent where required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for substantial changes, notify you by email or in-app message. Your continued use of Plinth after a change means you accept the new policy.
